In 1943 Carole had a supporting role in the comedy The Powers Girl. She plays Kay Evans, an aspiring model who must help her sister after she loses her job. 20th Century Fox loaned her to United Artists to make this movie. Carole replaced Joan Bennett who dropped out before filming began. The cast includes Anne Shirley, Benny Goodman, Dennis Day, and George Murphy. She and George would work together again in Having Wonderful Crime. The Powers Girls was filmed from August until October of 1942 at General Service Studios in Los Angeles. It was directed by Norman Z. McLeod. Gilbert Adrian designed the costumes. The movie was released on January 15, 1943 and became a box office hit earning more than one million dollars. In England it was released with the title Hello Beautiful. Although Carole didn't like her role the movie her performance got mostly positive reviews.
