In 1948 Carole started in the British film-noir The Silk Noose (also known as Noose). She had the leading role of Linda Medbury, an American fashion reporter who investigates a black market racketeer. This was the last film she made before her death. The cast included Derek Farr (as Linda's longtime fiance), Joseph Calleia, Reginald Tate, Ruth Nixon, and Nigel Patrick. Derek Farr said of Carole "I enjoyed working with her enormously. Everyone adored her in the unit - she was a real Hollywood pro."

The Silk Noose was directed by Edmond T. Greville. Her costumes were designed by Anna Duse. Filming took place at Teddington Studios in London, England during January and February of 1948. The movie was released in the United Kingdom on September 28, 1948 and in the United States in July of 1950 (two years after Carole's death). Although the film was not a box-office hit her performance got mostly positive reviews. Variety said "The late Carole Landis is attractive as the newspaperwoman who stumbles on a scoop."
