In early 1940 Carole had cosmetic surgery to take out a bump and make her nose smaller. She said she did it so she would look better and thought it would help her career. There are rumors that she actually had to have her nose "fixed" after her boyfriend Pat DiCicco hit her. Just a month after getting the surgery Carole started filming the movie Turnabout. The nose job was a success and she looked even more beautiful in photos. She told reporter Sheilah Graham that she had the surgery in the Fall of 1939 but photos seem to prove that it wasn't done until 1940.
