She plays the part of June Jones, a secretary and the devoted daughter of a homesteader (played by Charles Middleton). This was the last of three movies she made while under contract with Republic PicturesThe movie features the popular cowboy trio The Three Mesquiteers. They were played by Robert Livingston, Duncan Renaldo, and Raymond Hatton.

The rest of the cast includes Betty CompsonIvan Miller, Ethan Laidlaw, and Yakima Canutt. Carole's stunt double was Nellie Walker. Cowboys From Texas was directed by George Sherman. He had also directed Carole in Three Texas Steers (another movie featuring The Three Mesquiteers). Filming took place in California from October 10 to October 18, 1939. The movie was released on November 29, 1939. It got mixed reviews and was a modest hit. The Film Daily said it was a "better than average western."
